Case Studies

Each Deepwalk engagement is anonymized to protect client confidentiality while illustrating how externally delivered assurance converts discovery into action across different facility types.

Large Office Building - Enterprise Facilities Portfolio

This pilot event brought together facilities managers and maintenance technicians to test the Deepwalk process in a large office setting. The team uncovered numerous devices and systems running after hours, including TVs, monitors, mini-fridges, HVAC terminals, exhaust fans, and lighting left on beyond safety needs. A minor water leak was discovered and repaired, and temperature readings confirmed significant overnight heat transfer through partially covered windows. These findings led to corrective actions, standard operating procedure updates, and measurable reductions in after-hours energy use.

Mixed-Use Office - Multi-Tenant Operations

This engagement involved a diverse Discovery Team composed primarily of building occupants. Findings included persistent plug loads, decorative lighting, and appliances such as coffee makers and heating devices operating continuously. The exercise revealed how occupant-led discovery can surface issues that even advanced building systems overlook. Notably, neighboring departments who initially declined to participate later engaged in energy and sustainability initiatives after hearing about the results and impact.

Specialized Facility - Food Production & Assembly

This commercial production kitchen and event space presented a high-sensitivity setting where operations couldn’t be disrupted. Deepwalk identified continuously running cooking equipment and AV systems, uncovering major energy drains while successfully working around unscheduled production.

The event prompted collaborative development of new SOPs that clarified how and when systems should be shut down, and by whom. These process changes improved energy performance and operational safety without disrupting normal production schedules, demonstrating the value of behavioral visibility alongside technical optimization.
